Program settings
- Show move info - will show information about move rating and number of evaluations.
- Learning mode - allowes you to regret and re-do moves.
- White/black dialog - brings up a dialog at game start to ask you if you want to play white or black.
- Show game clock - will show you elapsed time for the computer and you.
- Level - for choosing computer game level.
- Move speed - to regulate the speed used for moving the chess pieces.
You can also turn on/off
sound effects and set the desired level, and set the
background color of the window and the move information areas.
Regarding the four computer
game levels you can choose between - the program
uses the '
Alpha-Beta Pruning" algorithm to find it's best move. And the highest
level means that the program looks five moves ahead and might evaluate up
to
10.000.000 situations before deciding what move to make.
Start game
A new game is started by pressing the

button, and you can at anytime
use the buttons above for saving or loading games. Should you choose to abandon
a game - just press the

button.
Setup mode
When you want to set up the pieces to evaluate or solve a chess problem, you
can use the

button to enter setup mode. There you can drag the pieces
you want to use into the board. To remove a piece, drag it away from the
board either at the top or at the bottom. And to turn the board for playing
black or white, click the

button. When you are ready to play - press the
Setup button again.
Learn mode
If you choose to use the "Learn mode", you can use the buttons

and

to regret one or several
moves. When done, you have to use the

button to continue normal play again.
Tip
After you've loaded pieces in Setup mode - for example a
chess problem - you can use the

button to
turn the board and
let the program solve the problem. In fact, you can always use this button to let the
program find and do your moves.
